"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith." (Galatians 6:9-10)
A vital part of our post-pandemic renaissance, and as part of the rejuvenation of our outreach programmes, we are pleased to announce the launch of "StEPS", the St Erconwald's Parish Support programme with the aim of bringing our us together to achieve material impact on the lives of our community.
StEPS is based on the teachings of St Vincent de Paul, and aims to work closely with the St Vincent de Paul Society - an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. Part of our parish mission is to reach out to the lonely, the lost, disabled people, those with mental health conditions and the disadvantaged. Whilst prayers and good wishes are always well received, practical and pragmatic help for those who are in need around the parish and surrounding community is essential.
We need your help
We are looking to start out small and build out a team extend what fantastic volunteers, building on what individuals have been doing already. We need people who can:
We recognise that some initiatives have been sustained through the pandemic period by a small quantity of volunteers, for which the parish is immensely thankful. If you are one of those existing volunteers, we would like to connect with you to understand what you are doing today and to identify ways in which we can either support or expand your activities.
