​StEPS - St Erconwald's Parish Support

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith."
(Galatians 6:9-10)

As part of the rejuvenation of our outreach programmes, "StEPS", the St Erconwald's Parish Support programme, aims to bring our us together to achieve material impact on the lives of members of our community.

StEPS is based on the teachings of St Vincent de Paul, and aims to work closely with the St Vincent de Paul Society - an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. Part of our parish mission is to reach out to the lonely, the lost, disabled people, those with mental health conditions and the disadvantaged. Whilst prayers and good wishes are always well received, practical and pragmatic help for those who are in need around the parish and surrounding community is essential.

We need your help
We need people who can:
  • Visit elderly people in their homes or care homes
  • Provide lifts to mass for those not able to make their own way
  • Prayer shawl ministry
  • Assist with shopping trips with or for people who find this difficult
  • Source furniture for those without the means to buy their own
  • Organise Christmas parcels to people who may not receive anything at Christmas
  • Organise regular social events
