Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Friday 12th June 2026
The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus focuses on Jesus’ great love for all people, shown through His Heart, which represents His mercy, compassion, and self-giving love. This devotion became widely known through St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and has long been part of Catholic tradition. The feast reminds us that Jesus invites everyone to come to Him for comfort and peace as God’s love is always open, welcoming, and full of mercy. It is also a day of prayer for priests and a call for all Christians to grow in love for God and for one another. |

Prayer and Devotion
As we prepare for the feast, we are invited to deepen our devotion through prayer.
The Morning Offering is a foundational practice of the Sacred Heart devotion. By praying it, you dedicate your entire day—thoughts, words, joys, and sufferings—to God, uniting them with Christ’s sacrifice.
The Morning Offering prayer
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation for sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month.
The Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus 4th-- 9th June 2026
(Traditionally prayed for 9 consecutive days)
Parishioners are warmly encouraged to pray the Sacred Heart Novena during the nine days leading up to the Feast of the Sacred Heart on Friday, June 12. This is a beautiful way to prepare spiritually for the feast and to deepen our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Prayer cards will be available at the back of the church, and the novena prayer can also be found on the parish website. We encourage as many parishioners as possible to take part in this time of prayer.
The First Petition
O my Jesus, You have said: "Truly I say to you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you." Behold I knock, I seek and I ask for the grace of... (mention your request here).
The Second Petition
O my Jesus, You have said: "Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in My name, He will give it to you." Behold, in Your name, I ask the Father for the grace of... (mention your request here).
The Third Petition
O my Jesus, You have said: "Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but My words will not pass away." Encouraged by Your infallible words, I now ask for the grace of... (mention your request here).
Concluding Prayer
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your tender Mother and ours.
