FOOD BANK

We support the Walton and Hersham food bank.  waltonhersham.foodbank.org.uk/
Dried goods and tins can be left in the basket in the porch.

We are also an official referral agent so if you are in need or know someone in need me can provide introduction vouchers.

Some Statistics

Since opening in May 2013 the Foodbank has fed 1558 people local to Walton, Hersham and Weybridge.  Of that number, 902 are adults and 656 are children.

Between January 2014 and the end of Ausust 2014, the foodbank  has fed 838 local people.  Of that number, 501 are adults and 337 are children.

The main reasons people are having to use the foodbank is because of changes to their Benefits, followed by low income - a shocking number of people are in paid employment but still have to come to a foodbank to be able to live.

Case Study

Here is an example of someone they have helped - a young mum, lets call her Susan, who has previously donated to the food bank before having to use the food bank.  Susan suffers from post-natal depression and so forgot to renew her tax credits.  This meant Susan had to repay back two years worth of them which put the family in so much debt they were facing eviction.

This is the sort of story which shows crises can happen to anyone.

What do they need?
